Reflecting on My Own Games: Series Introduction

With every game I design, I get a little bit better. It’s the same as every other area of life. You get better just by doing it. But with that slow and steady progress you can also lose sight of how far you’ve come or just how important some of the lessons you’ve learned along the way were.

In this video series I’m going to do a review of each of the games I’ve designed so far. But maybe review isn’t the right word. It is more of a reflection. I’ll look at each game and ask questions about why I designed it the way I did. Why is the visual design done that way? Are there things I particularly love or would love to change at this point, now that I’m looking back at the finished design? And ultimately, what lessons did I take away from making this game?

I hope you’ll join into this series not just as a way to see my process, but also to think about your own and how you can continue to level up your game design skills.
